In the Philippines, couples can only have their marriage annulled on the ground of psychological incapacity.
Thus, annulment would be easier if both the church and the state would have similar laws in annulment.
Fortunately, Pope Francis announces that he is giving bishops powers to simplify the process of church annulment.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) welcomed this change, adding that the reforms will bring the matrimonial tribunals closer to the people.
Aside from the waived fees, the process does not have to go to two courts. Bishops are also given the authority to speed up a decision, especially in special cases.
