Duterte’s choice for DOTC post rose from rags to riches

Presumptive President Mayor Rodrigo Duterte finally made his choice as he announced on Monday that he would be appointing one of his classmate from San Beda College of Law in person of Arthur “Art” Tugade to head the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC).

Tugade is a well-known businessman who has a very inspiring story that captured the imagination of business watchers because of its dramatic turns.

Tugade had humble beginnings,his childhood was spent in the slum areas of Tatalon estates in Quezon City. His life became better after he received a scholarship award from San Beda which allowed him to study at the school from Grade 1 until he finished law,where he graduated Cum Laude.

He is the founder of the Perry’s Group of Companies,became chairman and President of several films,including Yusen Air & sea services,and many others.

“If they are the greatest asset, like any other asset, you should take care of them,” he said.
